About Us

Who We Are
Founded in 2023, MYC creates an inclusive space where Greater Lehigh Valley youth aged 11-19 perform with musical artistry, build community, and raise their voices for the greater good. Chorister input guides programming, and is selected to address social concerns. Meaningful discussions of issues, historical context, composition techniques, and music theory deepen the musical and vocal instruction.
We frequently ask, “What do you want to say with this music?”
Parents and singers alike comment on the transformative experience of singing with MYC.
Our Mission
MYC empowers diverse youth in the Lehigh Valley to build community, foster empathy, and drive positive change through expressive choral singing.
Our Vision
MYC envisions a world in which young people use their voices, adults listen, and all work together for a better world through joining in song.

Community
More than just a choir.
MYC builds connection within our ensemble, in our broader Lehigh Valley region, and internationally. We regularly collaborate with community partners, amplifying their mission through song.

Artistry
More than just singing.
MYC sings with authenticity and deep understanding of the text, context, compositional elements, and language of each piece. We sing music of all types and genres from classical Western European composers to music from across the globe.

Travel
More than just trips.
We believe that we learn more about our world by singing the music of other cultures, being present in other cultures, and visiting places of historical relevance. Our singers learn to be citizens of the world.

Purpose
Our overarching belief is in the power of artistic musical performance by youth as a catalyst for dialogue and social change. We strive to create a sense of belonging, empowerment, and artistic citizenship in our singers that will inspire lifelong engagement with the world.
“Your performance truly made it a memorable evening for so many… some were moved to tears. You have some phenomenal youth and your ability to harness their talent is nothing short of magic.”
— Kate Semmens, Science Director of the Nurture Nature Center
